DAY 3 & 4! Of Simplifying my Life as a Disciple of Jesus

Made headway on office, still working on getting books under control. I have reduced my commentaries and books I use all the time to two bookcases. These will be color-coordinated by my wife very soon, as I love seeing the books by color! as this example in this pic!

All of this arranging of my life and getting rid of "stuff" is these things get in the way of establishing true relationships. We see Jesus' focus was on people never on stuff, so I as a disciple must shift my focus from stuff to people. Let the painful journey begin :)

We long for a sense of acceptance, approval, security, and significance — because we were designed by God to find these things in him. But sin has separated us from God and created in us a deep sense of alienation. Speaking of the Jewish people in his own day, Paul writes, ‘[T]hey did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own’ (Rom. 10:3). We do the same thing. Theologically speaking, pretending and performing are just two sophisticated ways of establishing our own righteousness. When we pretend, we make ourselves out to be better than we are. When we perform, we are trying to please God by what we do. Pretending and performing reflect our sinful attempts to secure our own righteousness and identity apart from Jesus.

To really experience the deep transformation God promises us in the gospel, we must continually repent of these sinful patterns. Our souls must become deeply rooted in the truth of the gospel so that we anchor our righteousness and identity in Jesus and not in our selves. Specifically, the gospel promises of passive righteousness and adoption must become central to our thinking and living.”

Luck be a lady

 

Last night we played Yahtzee.  It was Jane’s first time.

On her first roll, she rolled a Yahtzee, with sixes.

Two rolls later, she rolled ANOTHER Yahtzee, with sixes.

And, no lie, 4 rolls later, she rolled another Yahtzee, with sixes.

(here’s Jane, showing off her 3rd Yahtzee.  She said, “It’s cause I’m 6, I think.”)

If that’s not Blogworthy, I don’t know what is.

Great news from Adobe!!!

So, at the end it wasn´t Flex, it was Flash who introduced itself on the iPhone (I´m sorry about you flexers ;-])

All members from the Flash Community are posting about the new upcoming features of Flash CS5, mainly:

- Applications for iPhone
- New text capabilities via the Text Layout Framework (TLF)
- XML based FLA files
- Code Snippets panel
- Flash Builder™ integration
- Improved ActionScript editor

What can we say about this? This is a big step, one of the biggest, even more if we take into account that more and more users are using their mobile devices to get into the internet or to use apps.

We can say also that Adobe has thought on designers migrating from AS2 to AS3 (code snippets panel), on integration (same point of view as CS3), and has improved some things they really had to do, such as text capabilities and the Actionscript Editor. YES I´m using it, I have used it since I learnt Flash and I will use it, no matter what you say.

For the Flash Community these are great news! Probably we won´t have to migrate to see our apps in the iPhone, the browser will have to wait until Apple decission...
