How To Root Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY On Gingerbread

 

It is not too long since the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY is released to retail stores, and already folks at XDA has come up with the simplest rooting procedure. Yes, you heard it right. You can now root your Xperia Play so that you can install certain useful apps that need root access to function. Thanks to user Bin4ry for getting the root procedure.



Root Xperia Play on Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread

The root method actually flashes a rooted Gingerbread firmware of the Xperia Play. Let us straight away take you to the steps for rooting the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.
Prerequisites

1. Make sure you unlock the bootloader of the Xperia Play. Follow our earlier publish for more details on unlocking the Bootloader by official way.

2. Download R800i WORLD .184 (play_modded.img) on to your computer.

3. You should have the ADB setup on your computer. (this is taken care already if you have unlocked the bootloader!).

1. On your computer launch the “Command Prompt” or the “Terminal” incase of Mac OSX or Linux.

2. Copy the download (play_modded.img) image file to the fastboot directory in the ADB setup.

3. Run the following command:

Windows:

fastboot flash system play_modded.img

Linux:

fastboot -i 0x0fce flash system play_modded.img

Mac:

fastboot-mac -i 0x0fce flash system play_modded.img

4. Wait for the process to complete.

After the process is complete, your Xperia Play will reboot automatically, rooted! It should also install the Superuser app for managing the root permissions.

The Sony Ericsson W508 is expected to hit the market from Q2 2009 in both Metal Grey and Poetic White color versions. Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 on 28 November for $799.99

Sony Ericsson announced the launch of its XPERIA X1 PDA phone. The X1 will be available on 28 November, Black Friday, for a suggested price of $799.99. The XEPRIA X1 will be sold unlocked.

This Windows Mobile 6.1 based PDA phone has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a 3.2 Megapixel camera.

Sony Ericsson W705 Walkman Phone

Sony Ericsson officially announced its new W705 Walkman phone, which is previously known as the Rika. The W705 is a slider Walkman phone with a 2.4-inch 260k color LCD display, a 3.2 megapixel camera with 3.2x digital zoom, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity and FM tuner.

Sony Ericsson’s W705 packs also Google Maps and is DLNA Certified. W705 comes with Walkman music player, Access NetFront browser. It features Shake Control, SensMe and YouTube.

The W705 support GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSPA 900/2100 network and there is also the W705u Walkman that offers additional support for UMA that allows users to seamlessly roam between the mobile network and local area networks thanks to GSM/Wi-Fi dual capabilities.

Sony Ericsson G705 Slider with YouTube Upload

Sony Ericsson officially announced the G705 slider mobile phone with is YouTube compatible. G705 allows users to instantly download and upload video directly. With the partnership with Google, more upcoming Sony Ericsson phones will also be YouTube compatible.

The Sony Ericsson G705 features a 2.4-inch LCD display, a 3.2 Megapixel camera with 3.2x digital zoom, built-in WiFi connectivity, aGPS with Google Maps, and support for auto orientation for easy switch between portrait to landscape modes. It has also a Google shortcut key. The G705 supports DLNA that allows the phone to connect with with DLNA-certified devices.

The American version of the G705 will be available in Q1 2009 and supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSUPA 850/1900/2100 networks. The standard G705 will be available in Q4 in Silky Gold or Majestic Black and it supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSDPA 2100. There is also an Orange exclusive G705u that will come in the colour Luminous Black.
