I think a big part of the problem Romney faces with Republican-primary voters is that he looks and comes across as a professional politician. I actually think he'd make a pretty good president (especially considering the starting baseline), but he's just too "slick" looking during the debates.
Perry has gobs of executive experience but may not yet understand that his position on some key issues are not ones that the Republican electorate support - not to say Perry is wrong, but he is not persuasive on those issues like immigration and comes across as defensive.
The rest of the field consists of ... um ... er ... I don't remember.
